Forest Park Southeast was first visited by Photo Flood St. Louis just over ten years ago in March 2015, which was flood 32. The northwest corner of the neighborhood “touches” Forest Park, thus where its name comes from.

Forest Park Southeast is home to the The Grove, the commercial district along Manchester Avenue from Vandeventer Avenue to Kingshighway Boulevard.

The area is home to a variety of restaurants and bars, including a large number of LGBT-oriented establishments. It is also home to a large number of public art pieces.
For an extensive history of the area I recommend reading the article from the first visit. The article can be found at http://www.photofloodstl.org/photo-flood-32-forest-park-southeast/

As with most of St. Louis there has been a lot of change over the last ten years. A large apartment complex has gone up along Manchester Avenue, across from Urban Chestnut, and various business have come and gone. At the west end at the intersection of Vandeventer is another fairly new large complex with apartments and restaurants. In addition another new apartment complex is currently being built to the south on Swan Avenue.

During our walk around it is apparent that the residential areas to the south and north of Manchester Avenue are well maintained. From the prices available on Zillow they appear to command a fairly good price for those desiring to live in the neighborhood.

With its close proximity to Forest Park, downtown, and the continued renewal of the Cortex area directly to the north across Interstate 64 the neighborhood should continue to be a popular spot for all.
