It has finally happened, two Photo Flooders have tied the knot, and what better way to celebrate this triumph than by inviting PFSTL to Flood it?! (this might seem inappropriate unless you know our soon-to-be Mrs. Joern)

Though they did not meet in Photo Flood Saint Louis, both John and Amanda have been longtime supporters of the group, and great friends to many members for much longer than that. What’s more, the duo know how to throw a funky bash, and this event was no less. Read along as we wish the happy couple well, show some pics, and experience a PFSTL first!

To the Joerns from some friends (I held up posting this on the usual timeline due to an attempt to create a guestbook of sorts here, but most people were not responding fast enough. If you would still like to write something to Amanda and John, please add your message to the post comments below.):

“I thoroughly enjoyed a delightfully quirky and fun evening which very much reminded me of the bride herself. Best wishes for wonderful future together!” – Ann Aurbach

“Congratulations to both of you. May God richly bless your union.” – Derrick Varner, aka Captured N Time.

“I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.” – Amanda Miller

“John and Amanda, true love is hard to find; cherish your bond and love for one another. You are each beyond blessed to have found your soulmate. My love and best wishes for this new chapter of your lives together.” – Mandi Gray

On a personal note, I’ve known Amanda since being introduced to her in a darkroom course at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. In this class, we each had to introduce ourselves and show some of our work. In true Amanda fashion, her presentation was equal parts TMI and “whatever dude”, with a healthy dose of interesting pictures thrown in. The room fell quiet, and I instantly knew that we’d be great friends.

Years later, when I formed Photo Flood Saint Louis, Amanda (a very talented photographer) was one of the small group of people that I originally invited to join. Photo Flood 3: Soulard was her first time participating in the group, and she did it with one hand on her camera and the other on a baby stroller. Despite this, her image of the peppers hanging from the American flag, that leads into the post, continues to be one of my favorite photographs ever made within the group.

Amanda introduced me to John a bit later on, and my initial impression was that he was this wonderfully sincere, polite, and intelligent guy. Who knew he was also a rockstar? In fact, the more I learned about John’s very extended list of talents and accomplishments, the more meaningful that initial impression became (who among us with as much potential is as equally genuine to a complete stranger).

If you are reading this and you know the couple, then you are aware of how lucky you are to inhabit the circle of this family. If you are reading this and you have no idea who John and Amanda are, drop into The Whiskey Ring on Cherokee Street some night (which John co-owns), and see what all the fuss is about.

To John and Amanda:

A deep and heartfelt congratulations to you both! Thank you so much for inviting me and my family into your lives, and for allowing this organization into your wedding. I wish you only the very best.
