Saint Louis Public Radio presented the 2019 Grand Center Theatre Crawl, a two-day pop-up theatre experience located in and around Grand Center. For seven years running, this event has been the single best way to experience new venues, and be introduced to the broad range of talent evident across St. Louis’ theatre scene. We were excited to be invited in as a media sponsor to cover the event, though the 20 images in this article barely scratch the surface at all of the activity.

Grand Center has been synonymous with live performances since at least the 1920’s, and today boasts over 10,000 seats. It’s no wonder then that an event meant to unite and present the theatre community to St. Louis audiences would occur there.
That’s too broad a stroke though because the immense work it takes to put on such an event is a collaborative affair between individuals, businesses and organizations across the region. This year, the Crawl hosted over two dozen theatre companies at nearly as many venues, and though primarily centered around Grand Center, spread out into Midtown. That’s a phenomenal achievement, and for an industry with already a lot on its plate! There was even a downloadable app to assist visitors.

If you missed this year’s fun, be sure to set your sights on next year. The Grand Center Theatre Crawl is one of St. Louis’ best loved and best attended annual events, that shows no signs of stopping.
